The WAA has an ongoing exhibit of our members on the first floor of the Cultural Center.

Beverly Brody Barisano will have a one-woman exhibit at the Clock Tower Gallery in the Cultural Center
from September 12th thru October 28th.  Opening reception will be October 16th, Sunday, 1PM to 5PM. 

Gallery hours are Fridays 6PM to 8PM and Sundays 2PM to 5PM.

 

October Day Trip 2011

We are planning a fall day trip to Ogunquit, ME. on Sunday, October 23rd.
The cost is $35 per person.  (A $15 deposit is required)  All are welcome! 

We will start at the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, then to Perkins Cove for lunch on our own, after lunch a stop at the Kittery Outlets where we will be given a coupon book for the outlet stores. After shopping we will venture home.

The WAA is planning a Holiday Fair at the Cultural Center on
Saturday, November 19th 2011 from 9AM to 2PM.

The cost is $10 for members and $20 for non-members.

THE 2012 SPRING ART FESTIVAL

Festival Dates  TBA

Eligibility

All artists and craftsmen must be 18 years of age or older.  For Judging, original artwork only – NO COPIES (work is considered a copy if its subject matter has been copied from any other art work or published photograph; i.e. magazine photos, etc.).  No work entered in previous WAA art festivals will be eligible.

Media

Watercolor; oil; acrylics; Mixed media; graphics; photography; crafts; cyber art (art digitally or computer enhanced work; and sculpture, recycled-reborn art, (this consists of two or three–dimensional artwork using discarded or found objects).  In order to enter this category your work has to be 75% recycled material.

I must emphasize that you have to be a paid up member to be able to put three pieces of artwork in the festival. Our membership runs from September to September.  We will not be accepting any dues at the door

“Paint The Beach!”
In the past few years the WAA has been doing this in conjunction with the DCR, “Back To The Beaches,” The WAA is gathering on the Beach on Shore Drive to spend a day doing Art and inviting people join in to paint of shells, etc.  Artists will be there painting and sharing knowledge of art techniques.  TBA

July Art in French Square This event is free to all paid up members.  TBA

Art on the Square, and Art At Crest Ave Park, this is where the artists set-up in the center of town and in the Highlands on two separate Saturdays in July and August for the purpose of an outdoor show and sale.  TBA

The Winthrop Art Association’s annual Spring Art Festival for 2011 in April was a well-attended succes as always.  A lot of new exhibitors and wonderful art and crafts were on display.

The Winthrop Art Association’s annual Spring Art Festival for 2010 was an exciting event as always.  A lot of new exhibitors joined in this year and wonderful art and crafts were on display.

The Winthrop Art Association’s annual Spring Art Festival for 2009 was an exciting event this year.  A lot of new exhibitors joined in this year and wonderful art and crafts were on display. 

Spring 2008 Art Festival

The Winthrop Art Association’s annual Spring Art Festival for 2008 was an exciting event this year.  A lot of new exhibitors joined in this year and wonderful art and crafts were on display.  The WAA was happy to give scholarships this year to two deserving graduating seniors who are continuing in art studies and they are Victoria Darnell and Nina Fedotov.

Wrap-up and Election dinner was on June 3rd.  This year our dinner will be at Ristaurante Alia, 495 Shirley St., Winthrop, MA

June 14th The WAA will be held a special event called Paint The Beach sponsored by Save the Harbor Save the Bay.  Artists set-up at the beach on Winthrop Shore Drive between the hours of 10am and 2pm. 

Pullin Point Winners Circle Show will be for the month of July. 

July Art In The Square 2011
was Saturday, July 26th, we will be setting-up in French Square, the Center of Town for our annual Art In The Square. 

August Art At Crest Ave. Park 2011

FALL DAY TRIP Sunday, October 19th.  Our first stop will be in Peterborough, NH where we will be stopping at the Sharon Arts Center to see their fine art galleries and then to their fine art ant crafts store.  Next stop will at be The Inn at Jaffrey Center for lunch and the last stop will be The Red Apple Farm in Phillipston, MA.  After all that we will head for home. 

Animal Lovers, Artists, Wannabee Artists: Friends of Felines held another PAINT-IN, a benefit for cats….NO FEE, Donations only for Animal Umbrella at a day of drawing or painting at our end annual PAINT-IN on Saturday, May 31st at 10 am at 200 Winthrop Ave., Revere.  This is a fun collegial atmosphere for Artists with instructive support for beginners. 

WAA’s Chili and Chowder Festival March 3, 2007

The Chili and Chowder Festival on March 3rd was a total success and was well attended.  Everything was delicious.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank our Judges, Nancy Williams, Director of the Senior Center, Mike Cabral, Executive Director of WCAT and Frank DaLoia, past School Committee member.  We would also like to thank The Winthrop Arms for a nice donation to the festival, Gary’s Crystal Cove Restaurant for Gift Certificate for our raffle, Letterie’s for Gift Certificates for our raffle and Beverly Barisano, Brenda Curry, Terry O’Connor, Terry McDonald and Dawn Mahoney for putting together great gift baskets.  Last we want to thank Costco, Stop & Shop and Shaws for their donations.  The most important thank you goes to this year’s entries.   THANK YOU ALL!
