September 2004 Newsletter:
This year we are trying something new. We will be only having Demonstrations in October, December, February and April. So our schedule will be Tuesday, October 5th, Tuesday, December 7th, 2005-Tuesday, February 1st and Tuesday, April 5th. The reason for this change is because we have limited funding and the low attendance at demonstrations. I hope this new schedule will be easier for you to attend.
Demonstrations are held at the Senior Center, 35 Harvard St., Winthrop. The first Tuesday, at 7:30 PM. Demonstrations are free and anyone can attend. Bring your friends.
October 5, 2004
Robert Farris will demonstrate oil painting. Robert is a well-known artist in the North and South Shores. His work hangs all over the world and he is a member of the Oil Painters of America. He is affiliated with the Salt Box Gallery in Topsfield and a Provincetown gallery. Robert teaches oil painting in his Wood End Studios.
December 7, 2004
Margaret Mekalian is going to demonstrate her art form. She graduated from Umass and attended Mass College of Art. She tries to extrapolate ideas from her childhood. She spent many hours making mudpies and putting rocks and twigs in them, so she tries to elaborate on that today with clay and paper mache.
February’s Demo has not been decided at this time.
April’s Demo will be our own Beverly Brody Barisano. She will be demonstrating wood cuts. There will be more information in the next newsletter.
Fall Foliage Trip – Sunday, October 17th
This year we will be busing our way to the Lakes Region in NH. We will leave the highway and go to Heritage Farms to choose this year’s pumpkins then through Laconia, Weirs Beach, Merideth, Moltonborough, and Wolfboro. We will be stopping at Mills Falls in Merideth, Harts Turkey Farm for Lunch, Castle in the Clouds, and a Stop in Wolfboro to go to Baily’s Ice Cream. This trip will cost $54 for the day and we will be leaving at about 7:30 AM and returning at about 7:30 PM. This is a very successful and fun trip that we do every year and we intend to have more fun this year. If you would like to go, contact Dawn at 617-846-2644. We already have a number of people signed up so don’t take too long to decide. The bus fills up fast.
